🚨🚨 HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨🚨🚨
We’ve re-made our beer with a BRAND NEW recipe!!! 🙌🏽 🙌🏽
It's been a hard hustle over the last few months but we’re massively proud to make this announcement and the resulting beer is *kisses fingers Italian style*.
Why make the change? Because we listened to you 🫵. We knew we could do better so we went to the certified champions of beer: The Belgians, and needless to say they turned out a proper European style lager for us. Dreamy.
The new Freestar Prime Time is a 0.5% lager brewed with classic European hops, a clean pilsner malt and packed with character from our signature Belgian yeast. This stellar combination delivers a super smooth and refreshing craft lager with a great body and a full flavour.
Yep, you heard right - we’re brewing Freestar now - it’s brewed naturally to a low ABV using a blend of innovative techniques that allow us to retain maximum flavour with only a fraction of the alcohol. It’s still gluten free, it’s still vegan but it has gone up a fraction in alcohol and it’s now 0.5%. About the same as a glass of fresh orange juice.
WHAT'S IN THE NEW BREW?
Prime Time is brewed with a trio of noble European hops; Saaz (Czech), Perle (German) and Hallertau (German), to give us floral, herbal and earthy aromas and bitter notes. We use a local pilsner malt that is naturally low in fermentable sugars and a signature Belgian yeast to give us a crisp, flavourful character. Our beer is then left to rest, gently filtered and then bottled for maximum retention of flavour.
HOW IS IT MADE?
Prime Time is brewed to a low ABV using a blend of innovative techniques that allow us to retain maximum flavour with only a fraction of the alcohol (0.5%). Our Belgian brewing partner is a Brewing Engineer (a masters that only exists in Belgium!) and has perfected the craft of creating the ideal conditions for a delicious beer to brew, without alcohol.
HOW DOES IT TASTE?
Nose: earthy and bitter hop aromas with spice and floral notes.
Palate: Soft malt and bitterness with spicy, floral Saaz hop flavours.
Finish: Round, clean, long and refreshing.
SUSTAINABILITY
Freestar Prime Time is brewed to a low ABV using a variety of specialist techniques that create ideal brewing conditions without alcohol. This approach is not only great for flavour but also better for the planet.
The more traditional and inefficient way of producing alcohol free beer is to brew beer to full strength and to then de-alcoholise it, often by boiling off the alcohol. The entire process requires lots of energy and water and creates a lot of waste.
Versus traditional methods of brewing alcohol free beer Freestar:
Sustainability extends beyond our supply chain and we take our social and environmental impact as a business very seriously. It’s one of the reasons we were certified as a B Corp in 2020 and were the first alcohol free beer to do so globally.
We hope you enjoy the new beer as much as we do!
Cheers 🍻
Felix, Eddy, Charlie and the Freestar Team.
